Alberto Martins
A native of Santos, where he was born in 1958, Alberto Martins graduated in languages from the University of São Paulo, where he also began his study of engraving, an art and technique that he developed further in New York. He lectured between 1990 and 1998 at the Lasar Segall Museum in São Paulo. He is the author of several books for young readers including Goeldi – História de horizonte, which won the Jabuti prize in 1996, and O estrangeiro e a floresta (2000). His collected poems were published in 1990 in a volume entitled Poemas, and further poetry appeared in Cais in 2002, both illustrated with his own engravings.
