Marcelino Freire
Born in Pernambuco in 1967, Marcelino Freire has lived in São Paulo since 1991. He is the author of Angu de sangue (2000) and Contos negreiros (2005), the latter a winner of the Jabuti Prize in 2006. In 2004 Freire conceived and edited the anthology Os cem menores contos brasileiros do século. In 2013 he published his first novel, Nossos ossos. He is the man behind the Balada Literária events series, blogs at eraOdito and, thanks to the Quebras project (Rumos Itaú Cultural), is in the process of mapping new authors in Brazilian capitals outside the dominant Rio de Janeiro-São Paulo circuit.
